Rivienne

Capital of Lanviris and hub of the east-west trade roads. Everyone praises power bound by oaths; a handful of lords still decide what the oaths mean.

On the stone at the head of Rivienne’s Seventh Bridge, under the oath inscription, someone has carved a line with a knife: the Seventh Domain has already paid for this bridge twice.

The river office polishes it off once a year. Every spring it comes back on the same stone.

ChapterMid-game kingdom politics, knights and caravan routes

Rivienne grew where two rivers meet. Its twelve stone bridges are each maintained by one of the twelve founding domains.

White Rose Fort is not a palace. It is the shared barracks of a knightly order deliberately independent of any domain’s private troops, and its main gate faces the citizens’ square — a standing statement that knights answer to the oath and to public witness first. It is also the gate Cecilia walks through every morning.

The bridges are the map

The city divides naturally along its rivers and crossings. Bridge status changes with quests: closures, repairs, processions and floods reroute you, and they move shop prices and NPC commutes with them.

What you remember is never an abstract “prosperous kingdom”. It is which bridge stopped which person getting home today.
