The Abyssal Court
A wartime league of city and clan formed around Abyss City. Concentrated power is what kept the exiled alive — and what keeps "survival requires it" postponing self-government and reconciliation.
- Demons
- Abyss City
- Rationing
At a glance
| Nature | Wartime league of Abyss City and the surrounding demon clans |
| Leader | Demon Lord Rhavaniel Nocturna Asmodeus |
| Core resources | Heat wells, dark crystal, rift routes, gravity engineering, highly organised rationing |
What it demands
The Court asks for three things:
- Recognition that demons were not the single guilty party of the Divine Age war;
- An end to campaigns and expulsions waged by race;
- Legal standing for Abyss City to trade and to negotiate over land.
Rhavaniel is willing to stop fighting. She refuses to trade unilateral disarmament for a verbal guarantee from human states.
About the word “Demon Lord”
It is a wartime command title raised by the clans, not the throne of an evil ruler of the world. The human translation kept the fear in it; inside the Court the sense is closer to the one who carries the weight.
The contradiction at its centre
Concentrated power kept the exiled alive, and it also made “survival requires it” an endlessly renewable reason to postpone self-government and reconciliation. The Fourfold Hearth Seats are both the source of Rhavaniel’s authority and the limit on it — her arguments with them matter far more than any treacherous subordinate ever could.
